Behind the Scent

Raat ki Rani, commonly known as Queen of the Night or night blooming jasmine (Cestrum nocturnum), is a cherished plant in India for its enchanting fragrance and cultural significance. This flowering shrub is renowned for its small white flowers that open in the evening, releasing a powerful and delightful scent that permeates the night air.

Beyond its aromatic allure, Queen of the Night holds a profound place in Indian traditions. Its flowers are often woven into garlands that adorn festival venues and wedding ceremonies, symbolizing purity and celebration. In the realm of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, the flowers of Raat ki Rani are valued for their antioxidant properties and potential health benefits, making them more than just a source of fragrance but also a natural remedy.

Bringing Raat ki Rani into your home means more than enjoying its heady scent. It is an invitation to experience a piece of India's rich cultural tapestry, imbued with the positive energy and auspiciousness that have been associated with this plant for generations. Whether in a kitchen or on your mantelpiece, our Queen of the Night candle can transform your space into a fragrant sanctuary reminiscent of Indian nights filled with tradition and beauty.

Making the Candles

A truly British endeavour

Scents Recreated in Northampton

Crafting the scents was a months long endeavour; Shakera explained her memory of the scents from when she was a child in India. Each memory was then brought to life by excellent perfumers in Northampton, England. They kept iterating the forumla until the scent perfectly matched Shakera's vision.

Pots Handmade in Stoke On Trent

Stoke On Trent, England, is a city renowned for its creation of and dedication to the best pottery in the country. Our potters belong to a third generation family pottery business, the clay is in their bones! Their dedication to their craft resulted in beautiful bone china, black tipped pots with a gorgeous pearlescent hue designed to be loved time and again.

Wax Handpoured in Scotland

Our candles made their final journey to Falkirk, Scotland where husband-wife team met our demand to combine the beautiful scents with their part natural wax. Hand poured into each pot, carefully placed into their rigid boxes with some padding to keep them safe, our candles were complete.
