Shaku x The British Museum

Our first ever collaboration has arrived, not with a trickle but with a bang: we’re at the British Museum. The home of global treasures now features a dash of Shaku, as Shakera unveils a special collection of floral greeting cards created to accompany their Ancient India: Living Traditions exhibition, on now.

Last September, the museum team fell in love with Shakera’s uniquely expressive take on florals and invited her to design a set of four bespoke cards to sit alongside the exhibition, a celebration of India’s rich artistic and cultural heritage.

For Shakera, this collaboration became more than just a creative brief. It was a personal return to her roots in Mumbai, a chance to revisit the lush botanicals of her childhood and translate their symbolism into her own visual language.

The result is a collection of four designs, each centred on an iconic Indian flower:

Marigolds, vivid and joyful, their ruffled petals recalling celebration and ritual
A Lotus, serene and poised, resting gracefully on soft green leaves
Budding and blooming Jasmine, sweet and delicate, their fragrance almost tangible
And the bold Hibiscus, dramatic and powerful, a portrait of feminine strength

Each design reflects Shakera’s signature style, layered, expressive, and rich in meaning, while honouring the depth and artistry at the heart of the exhibition

Collaborating with the British Museum has been a true honour. For Shakera, it marks not just a creative milestone but a meaningful contribution to a wider cultural dialogue, one rooted in identity, craftsmanship, and living tradition.

If you're visiting Ancient India: Living Traditions, you'll find the cards available exclusively at the British Museum Shop and online store. Whether you take one home as a keepsake, gift it to someone special, or simply enjoy it for its artistry, we hope these designs bring a little of India’s floral legacy and Shaku’s world into your hands.
