We are delighted to announce that we will be exhibiting at RHS Chelsea Flower Show this May! Picked from a number of worthy applicants, Shaku has been given the opportunity to display and sell our floral themed products at what has been called the ‘haute couture’ of the international gardening scene.
From the very beginning of our journey as a brand, our founder, Shakera set her sights on exhibiting at Chelsea Flower Show. The show is well known for its beautiful gardens and pavilions which highlight the best of British landscaping and gardening. In such a beautiful setting, our Shaku products are perfectly at home. Shakera’s art tells the story of her journey from the kaleidoscopic streets of Mumbai to the rustic beauty of the English countryside through the medium of flowers. Each product starts as a concept rooted in a floral drawing or painting hand-made by Shakera. They are then put through a rigorous development process, be it to match the design to the best colour and fabric for a scarf, or to achieve the perfect scented throw in a candle.
At the show, we will be bringing the best of Shaku.
You will be able to style any one of our gorgeous Italian made scarves; from classic printed silk squares to ravishingly soft woven silk shawls. In limited edition runs but with a one-size-fits-all approach, our scarves are made to be worn in multiple styles, folded into a triangle and knotted in the neckline of a cashmere sweater; tied as a bandana or looped around the handles of a classic handbag.
Experience the exotic scents of Indian flowers encased in our black-tipped fine bone China candles, the creation of which began with Shakera describing her memory of each scent. In line with sustainable practices, she chose to develop the candles exclusively in the UK: scents conceived in Northampton, pots made in the ceramic heartlands of Staffordshire and wax hand poured in Falkirk. Our beautiful candles resulted, to be lit but also intended to be re-used afterwards, be it to store coffee or trinkets, make-up or a plant.
Our commitment to slow fashion and sustainability is woven into the fabric of what we do. It starts from Shakera’s days in India when she was taught how to resew old dresses into new, and now we take discarded stock and remake them into new accessories. We have a lovely range of upcycled cushions, hair accessories and sleep masks.
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is indeed the place to see cutting-edge garden design, held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, London every year since 1913. In such a beautiful location, surrounded by the best in floral design, we felt it was fitting to launch our range of art. Shaku is the creative canvas for Shakera, a means by which she can bring her art to the world. This time, we will be showcasing her original works of art, as well as a range of giclée fine art prints and greetings cards. Each piece is a manifestation of Shakera’s design and her creative eye, we cannot wait to show you.
