Shaku Heroes: Your Nominations So Far

To say thank you to our key workers and everyday heroes in our community and across the country, we have gifted our Rainbow Posy scarf to people who have been nominated for their amazing work.

Nominations have included medical staff, key workers or frontline responders, who have shown a special kindness or courage during this difficult time and who you think deserved a special thank you. We’re celebrating strength, compassion and humanity, in whatever form it may come.

Shaku continues to be incredibly grateful for their work during this time.

Alice worked in the A & E Department of the Leicester Royal Infirmary throughout the pandemic, dealing with the normal hazards of her work, and the additional challenges and hazards of working with COVID. Her nominator had this to say about her "I am very proud of all she has done and continues to do to help the sick and injured of our community with great diligence, courage and positivity".

Jaheda was nominated for her work against domestic abuse during the lockdown.

Emma works as a senior sister with an amazing team at Good Hope Hospital all in the A&E department.

Her nominator said "Danielle is a midwife at Leicester Royal Infirmary and worked right through the lockdown. Her parents both caught Covid-19 and were very ill. Danielle moved out of home to stay with friends so that she could continue to work. She is a wonderful young woman who is caring and thoughtful. The photo shows her at work holding a baby boy called Roman, born that day to our good friend Abi"

As this difficult time persists, we continue to take nominations, so please remember to share your everyday heroes with us.
