How to celebrate International Women’s Week 2021

As a female-founded and a female-led brand, International Women’s Day (8th March) is a cause that is especially close to us. At its heart, the day is about giving women the recognition they deserve, celebrating their achievements and supporting the women who need it most.

We’ve complied a list of ways to honour International Women’s Day this year.

Raise Awareness

One of the easiest things you can do to make a positive difference for women is spread the word and encourage others to get involved.

The campaign theme for IWD 2021 is ‘Choose To Challenge’. The campaign is encouraging us to raise our hand to show our support and solidarity for the cause to call out inequality and celebrate women.

Simply take a picture with your hand raised and post it to your social media with the hashtag #ChooseToChallenge to bring awareness to the campaign. Alternatively you can re-share other campaigners and activists. Start with @internationalwomensday_global for resources, guidance and more ideas to support the theme.

Celebrate the Day

Simply celebrate the day! You can do this by ordering a meal from a women-lead restaurant or treating the women in your life to special gift.

If you're looking for a special gift to show your appreciation and admiration to the women in your life, you can't go wrong with flowers. We’re excited to have partnered with fellow female-founded florist, Orchidya to celebrate Women’s Day. You can now get one of our luxury scented candles free when you order any Orchidya flowers with the code CANDLE at checkout on the Orchidya online boutique.*

*Minimum spend £60.

Show Women Compassion

An act of compassion and kindness can go far. Whether that means phoning a friend or family member, cooking an extra serving for a woman who could use a helping hand, supporting women-owned businesses, or donating spare clothes or unused products to a women’s shelter.

Donate or Fundraise for Female-focused Charities

There’s no better way to honour the spirit of International Women’s Day than by donating money, volunteering your time or spreading the word about their work. There are so many amazing UK charities to get involved with who provide invaluable services, support and education to millions of women across the world.

Here’s a list of female-focused charities to get you started.

Educate Yourself

Commit part of the day (or week) to educating yourself on the issues affecting women around the world. Pick up a book, listen to podcasts or sign up for virtual events. To learn on the day, AllBright are hosting a 24hr international summit with motivational talks and panel events from global thought leaders, change makers and experts.

To all women, Happy International Women's Day! We hope you take advantage of this day to celebrate, learn and support one another.
